For the most part, footballers are renowned for being self-obsessive about both their performance and appearance. Thierry Henry
The King of Cool. In his playing days, Henry was one of the Premier League’s best strikers and ranks high on the all-time goalscoring charts in England’s top flight. The former Arsenal man’s calm and composed nature on the field earned him plenty of respect off it and he is widely regarded as one of the most liked footballers of his generation. Away from the field, Henry’s smooth, sophisticated nature transcends into a classy, stylish dress code. In his role as a pundit on Sky Sports, he is often seen wearing the most dapper brands and slick suits. Va Va Voom!
Andrea Pirlo
It’s almost impossible to be more laidback than Andrea Pirlo. On the morning of the 2006 World Cup final, Pirlo sat there playing on his PlayStation before heading to the stadium and producing a masterful performance. One of the main fashion icons in Italy, Pirlo was instrumental in Juventus’ Champions League run last season before they were beaten in the final of the competition. Juve, who are priced at 25/1 at the time of writing to win the tournament this year in Bet365’s UEFA competitions betting markets, are certainly missing the midfield maestro after Pirlo opted to join New York City FC in the summer.
Chancel Mbemba
The Newcastle United defender, who signed for the club during the summer transfer window, made an immediate impact at St James’ Park both on and off the field. While his displays have helped to bring some stability to Newcastle’s defence on the field, his fashion sense has perhaps drawn the most interest in his brief Magpies career. Mbemba has turned up to the games wearing a full tuxedo on a number of occasions and certainly looks as though he is embracing life in the Premier League. At 19 years old, he could be one of football’s top fashion icons in the future.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Where would a top five article be without either Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo? The Real Madrid legend is one of football’s most iconic figures and has been crowned as the FIFA Ballon d’Or winner on three occasions. Ronaldo loves his fashion and can be seen sporting some of the world’s biggest brands at movie premieres, award evenings and other important events. The Portuguese has followed in the footsteps of David Beckham and developed his own concept, CR7, which is a colossal brand in the sporting and fashion world.
